I’m baaack!

Well, it took a little longer than I thought, but I’m thrilled to be back blogging at iDivamemphis, this time as a civilian … no longer an employee of The Commercial Appeal or skirt! magazine.

In order, here are the most frequent questions people have asked me since my departure. The answers? Well, here’s what I know. We’ll puzzle out the rest as we go along.

partyline080806promo.jpgOr, just another week of Party Line photos from our very own Michael Donahue.

This week, we’ve got photos from the King’s Sevens Rugby Tournament, which featured a sideburn contest, a hotdog eating contest and lots of people walking around in tank-tops or less, in addition to a rugby game.

We’ve also got photos from the Garage Band Reunion, a benefit show for Alzheimer’s Day Services at Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. The show featured performances by many “back-in -the-day” type garage bands from Memphis, including The Memphis Blazers, Interstate 55 and The 13th Muse.

Feel free to peruse theParty Line Extra photos. Try to not leave a mess on your way out.

*In making sure that I spelled the word nubile correctly, I found out that not only did I spell it incorrectly, but I’m also using it the wrong way. By definition, nubile refers to a young woman who is either attractive, or ready for marriage, not guys with their shirts off. Is there a male equivalent for nubile?

Partyline 7/25/06
It’s that time of the week again, folks, where we here at iDiva bring you the Party Line photos that you didn’t get in the paper this morning.

We’ve got shots from last Thursday’s Cocktails & Hardhats party in Germantown. Donahue said this was a swinging party, but the photos from it feature neither cocktails nor hardhats, making it an ill-named shindig.

We’ve also got shots from Blues on the Bluff, a cool party featuring the Bo-Keys, the Burnside Exploration and the Last Chance Jug Band.

Feel free to flip through the photos and see if you know anybody. Please note that iDiva is not responsible for any breakups you might have with a significant other if he or she is found in our slideshow in the arms of someone who’s not you…

wendiblog.jpgEveryone grieves differently, but I (the guest Diva and metro columnist Wendi C. Thomas) was amazed when Alicia Leslie e-mailed me to share how she’s dealing with the death of her daughter, Alicia Caldwell. Caldwell was the 36-year-old mother of three who was killed in that horrific police chase-turned-collision on Winchester last month. Leslie is in mourning, but she was amazingly candid about what and who landed her daughter in the company of career criminals. Her daughter herself and her addiction to crack. Read more in my column today.

lksmallface.jpgIn the original Diva’s column today, she writes about Dress for Success, a program that not only outfits women with that first formal suit to land a better job, but opens the door to a host of other opportunities too.

Dress for Success knows that for most women, the right set of clothes can inspire confidence – so what’s your power outift, the one you save for the most important meetings, when you’re dressing for ultimate success?
