When I told my friendly doc at my physical yesterday that I’m regularly doing yoga now, he remarked, “You know, I prescribe yoga for my patients with sexual dysfunction.” Cool! Turns out it helps build body awareness, increase sensation and even helps “anorgasmic” women. And a quick Google turns up a set of CDs so you can teach yourself, plus a hilarious NY Magazine look at the, um, benefits of regular yoga practice.

Though I have a feeling this isn’t what yoga purists would like for us to focus on, it’s one more reason not to skip my yoga classes. Don’t you agree?

I love those magazine surveys that attempt to look at why women do what they do, and how much time they spend doing it. Mostly because they always have something really goofy in them. Here, from Women’s Health magazine, is the latest look at how an Average Woman spends her day. The most ridiculous number: The AW spends 54 minutes getting ready for work in the morning. WHAT? Less than half that, is more like it.

Here’s my next favorite part:
Number of hours a week the AW vegs out in front of the TV: 12
How much more time that is than she spends at the gym: 10 times
She will shut off the TV for: sex.

Come to think of it, maybe I’m more average than I thought. Are you an AW?

So here’s a note I got yesterday, from Berry. What advice do you have for her? Do you use sex toys? What else do you want to know about toys and girls who love them? (Remember, you can post anonymously — use whatever name you like — but I’ll nix any over-the-line comments or spam.)

Dear Advice Diva: A friend and I were chatting at a playgroup this weekend (the kids weren’t in earshot) about sex toys. She mentioned that she and hubbie clean their toys in the dishwasher, sans dishes of course, to make sure they get really clean.

I usually do the old, rinse them in the bathtub thing, but I always worry about those “hard to reach” grooves, so an occasional run through the dishwasher doesn’t sound like a bad idea. My question is, is this sanitary and safe for battery operated toys? Are there any doctors or gynos with advice?

strip.jpgI don’t know: I’m all for keeping workouts interesting, but this story today in The CA about Strip to Fit – where aerobics are taught with the assistance of a stripper pole — sounds a little over the edge. The instructor (that’s Rachel Vint, left, teaching Toni Goff a move) is clear that this isn’t a stripper training course, but I guess I’m just old-fashioned … I don’t expect an aerobics workout will get me “in touch with my sexuality.” Though I did kind of like reading about the Olive Branch English teacher and her husband who were considering getting a pole for their living room.

Have you tried it, or any of the similar strip-aerobics videos? What about Naughty Pilates? Does adding a “naughty” element make your workout, um, better?

That was the headline that grabbed me on MSN yesterday: Less sex means your man is really hooked on you. Here’s the link; the idea is that if he’s not always trying to get you into bed, he’s moving into a more committed phase of your relationship. “Eating Chinese takeout and watching crappy TV with her becomes the ultimate fantasy!” says a guy quoted in the match.com article. (So all of those episodes of “Deadliest Catch” are supposed to be a turn-on?)

What do you think … can this be true? How can you really tell if your relationship is getting serious?
